What is Nevidio?

Nevidio, “the unseen”, is a narrow gorge carved by the Komarnica river at the foot of Durmitor in northern Montenegro. It was one of the last canyons in Europe to be explored, and in places the walls are so close that you can touch both sides.

Canyoning here means moving through the gorge the way the water does: walking in the river, sliding down smooth rock, jumping into pools and swimming through the narrow parts.

How long does it take?

You spend about 2 hours inside the canyon. With getting into the gear, the safety briefing and the walk out, the whole tour takes about 3 hours. We start at 9:30.

There is no transport included. We meet at a fixed meeting point near the canyon, which you can open in Google Maps from the tour page. Plan your drive so you arrive a little early.

How cold is the water?

On a summer day the air in the canyon is usually pleasant, around 20 °C, but the river is fed by mountain water and feels much colder than the air. That is why everyone gets a wetsuit.

In the wetsuit and on the move you stay comfortable. The first jump is the coldest, after that most people stop thinking about it.

The hardest part: the walk out

Surprisingly, the hardest part is not in the water. At the end of the canyon we walk uphill for about 30 minutes to get out. It is not technical, just steep, and you do it after two hours of fun in cold water.

Keep some energy and water for this part and take it at your own pace. The group waits for everyone.

Do I need to know how to swim?

No. Non-swimmers get a life vest and the guide is with the group the whole time. Please tell us when you book, in the note of the booking form or on WhatsApp, so we bring the right vest for you.

Who should not go?

The minimum age is 10 and guests should weigh between 40 and 120 kg, because of the sizes of the wetsuits and harnesses.

If you have health problems, canyoning is probably not for you. If you are not sure, ask us before you book and we will tell you honestly.

What to bring

Wear a swimsuit under the wetsuit and bring a towel and dry clothes for after. The thing guests forget most often is dry underwear, so pack it first.

Bring water and a small snack. Leave your phone and jewellery in the car, everything in the canyon gets wet. Wetsuit, helmet and harness are included, and the guide speaks English and Hebrew.
