About me
I'm Stanko, but most people just call me Tarzan. I was born in 1990 in Bijeljina, in Semberija, a corner of Bosnia so flat that the steepest climb around is the curb. Somehow I ended up on the rocks of Durmitor, and I have no plans to come down.
Photos coming soon“Tarzan” came on its own, after years spent outside, in forests, on mountains and on horse trails. “Semberski” was added by my fellow townspeople.
Semberija is flat land, and a lowlander doing mountain sports was strange enough for them to give me a title. I accepted it with pride and kept it.
I have worked outdoors since 2004. It started with horses, and I became a riding instructor in five disciplines and led trail rides through the countryside.
Climbing started as a hobby and turned into my profession. Extreme outdoor sport became my job because, after many different experiences, it turned out to be the best mix of what I know, what I love and what I can do. Horse riding and mountain biking stayed with me as hobbies, for the days when I am not on the rock.
Over the years I have completed courses in guiding, group care, critical situations and rescue, all the way to advanced techniques for leading outdoor tours.
Just as important were the courses on communicating with very different people, calming panic, leadership, directing a group and making decisions in the field. On the tour it looks simple: you laugh and climb, and I already know what comes next.
During the season I adapt my gym training to the work, so that safety and the pace of every tour stay at a high level.
Between seasons I take a short break, just long enough to rest, and then go straight into preparation for the next one. The mountain doesn't wait, and neither do the guests.
I don't just take people from point A to point B. My job is to send you home with a story you will retell for years, a photo that goes on the wall and the feeling that you did something you didn't think you could.
Jokes are included in the price. Fear is allowed, but only on the first few metres.
For me outdoor life is not only out in the field. I love creating content for social media, and that is how I started doing content marketing for others too, from the first idea to running a whole profile. You can see what that looks like on my Instagram.
